Aminata Kabba, formerly known as A*M*E, is the British singer and songwriter making her debut under her brand-new alias at Colours Hoxton this month. We catch up with the London native ahead of her debut performance under her new alias, which takes place at Colours Hoxton this December as part of Daddy Issues.
How did growing up in London influence your sound?
London is a melting pot of different cultures, because of that, there is a wide range of musical influences for me to draw from. I get most of my song titles and ideas from listening to conversations on the train, at coffee shops and restaurants. There’s inspiration all over London and this always seeps into my music.
Who are 5 artists you’re loving right now?
Mahalia, Summer Walker, Burna Boy, SiR and Teyana Taylor.
What has been your favourite project to date and why?
My self-titled EP is my favourite project currently. I have got to make music that truly represents myself as an artist and I was able to do it with some of my best friends. The entire project was written by myself, MNEK and Ryan Ashley and the whole EP is produced by MNEK.
What can fans expect from your performance at Daddy Issues @ Colours on 14.12.19?
Lots of energy! I love interacting with the audience and getting them involved. This will be the first time I perform as KABBA so I’m incredibly excited!
What’s coming up for you in 2020?
Lots of new music! My debut EP “KABBA” will be released in January and I will be following it up with another EP straight after. Stay up to date with all of my releases via my social media.
